Identity

Being in a toxic relationship while being a new mom was a roller coaster ride that I never knew how or when the ride would be over. Not understanding postpartum and how to process what I was dealing with while being a mom changed me into someone I did not recognize in the mirror. I was using language I never used before, I was doing things I thought I would never do and I was living a life that I thought could only happen in a lifetime movie. How do you face yourself while trying to nurture your infant? How do you walk out of a relationship that’s toxic and never look back? I went from one baby to two before I could blink and as the days went by the more I knew something had to change. In 2019 I birthed my daughter, but I also birthed a new me. In 2019 I left that toxic relationship and by 2021 I never looked back.

It may take you months or years to finally pick up and leave an uncomfortable situation. The day you do decide to leave just remember to give yourself grace because you just did a courageous and bold thing. You never want to be in a relationship that mentally drains you and interrupts your peace, whether it’s a spouse, family, or even a job. Having a mirror is something I love to use in every situation, it allows for self-reflection. What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you like what you see? If the answer is no then how can you change it? Emotional, physical, and verbal abuse are all unacceptable in any kind of relationship. Queens, please understand this, no one has the right to abuse you in any way. Know who you are, whose you are, and stand firm in knowing that. Hold your head up high and know that you are worthy. Hold your head up high and know that you were called to royalty. Hold your head up high and know that only a man of God will be able to seek his way through the kingdom to get to you. A real man will not compete with you. A real man will not be jealous of you. A real man will not talk down on you. A real man holds himself to high standards and honor. A real man knows who he is and walks accordingly. A real man recognizes a Queen when they are in front of one. So baby knows who you are and never identifies yourself with anything other than a Queen. Smile beautiful this journey isn’t easy but it’s well worth it.

I love you forever!!

Audrey
